Which one should we integrate

Posted on Jan 27, 2009

We are looking for providing another option for login to our users, and currently lot of discussions are going on. We thought that we should also give our users a chance to  have their say in building this website.

Which one should we integrate on phpcamp.net for providing better option for login and socializing?

  1. OpenID
  2. Facebook Connect
  3. Google Friend Connect

About PHPCamp

Posted on Jan 12, 2009

What is PHPCamp

PHPCamp is a community site dedicated to PHP developer’s community.

PHPcamp aims to provide a platform where everyone can bring interesting links, news and share their knowledge that are helpful to other web developers.

It provides publishers with a chance to easily show their articles to others and gain some readers; most importantly it provides readers an easy way to keep an eye on latest things in PHP world, at the same time, giving them a chance to learn new things every day.

How it works

Users(Campers) submit all the articles that are displayed on the website. All newly submitted articles are listed in ‘freshly arrived’ section. From their some articles get promoted to ‘getting hotter’ section if they generate some interest from the users. Only those articles that display maximum interest get promoted to ‘boiling section’.

Why one more?

Even though there are good websites like PHPdeveloper.org and Planet-PHP.net, they only cover very small news, while Digg and Dzone are just too generic.

We felt that their is a need on one website that can fill this gap between these two type of websites. So we build this one to take to provide community with a platform where they can share news as easily as they do on Digg, and also find lot’s of news that are missed by other PHPdeveloper.

How do I submit news or interesting articles?

You simply need to register for a new account. With an account you can submit articles by clicking the ‘Add Your Link’ button.

What next?

Well, we are working on lot’s of features to make PHPCamp most useful website and part of you daily routine. We will be releasing  these features in coming months.

Have Fun,

–Team

Release Early, Release Often

Posted on Jan 12, 2009

We believe in the mantra of ‘Release Early, Release Often’, so we have released something that is not 100% ready.

Yes we know that site looks amateurish, it lacks the polish of great website, but don’t  get that in your way of  having a great experience.

While you enjoy the articles, we are hard at work improving the website to make it 100% ready.

Here are few things that are high on our priority list for next few weeks,

  1. New improved and consistent look for the website.
  2. Firefox toolbar, to make it easy for you to submit and vote articles.
  3. A widget that you can include in your website, so that you readers can also vote for your articles right from you website itself.

While we are building these things, we will be happy to hear from you about your needs. Just contact us, and submit you views.
